Over in the particularly well-established and stable market of South West London, The Retreat in Earlsfield was a very different proposition, but represented the same potential to benefit from gentrification and significant regeneration activity surrounding redevelopment of the historic Ram Brewery site, as well as the ripple effect from desirable neighbouring areas. The figures worked and it was a rare opportunity to acquire property at value within this local market.
As we've helped our clients to grow their property holdings, we have been mindful of the need to maintain balance within their portfolios. This has been addressed by providing direct unit investment opportunities within distinct micro-markets, and on very different scales. We have also extended our offering to span a broader section of the development cycle and include indirect and commercial investments.
We established our first Young Property London Development Fund in 2007. Its principal focus is on East London, where we believe there is opportunity for sustained growth. The fund has been created to facilitate investing at the earliest stage of the development process. Clients can share in the development profit whilst adding a different element of exposure to the London property market. The development process is managed in-house by dedicated Young Group senior management.
